Sales Day

For the first time, a Sales Day was organized in Gasa English Medium School (GEMS).

The purpose of the Sales Day was to raise funds for the school picnic. There were different stalls which sold different items at different rates. The stalls catered to the needs of all.

The students' handicrafts stall drew a lot of attention. The items made were doormats out of gunny sacks, a traditional Garo necklace called 'Rikgitok' which was made out of colourful magazine papers, scrunchies for the hair, made out of cotton and satin material, bamboo baskets, bamboo handmade rice cleaner called 'ruan' and brooms made out of  'Thysanolaena maxima' plant known simply as Broom grass. Most of the items were very popular among all. These items were the most sought out.

The vegetable stalls had fresh organic homegrown vegetables sold by both the junior and senior students. These vegetables were sponsored by the students' parents. Vegetables like raddish, brinjal (ba-ring), squash (go-min-da), mustard leaves, different kinds of green leafy vegetables, lemons, green chillies, yam, bottle gourd, pumpkins, papayas, pineapples, oranges and wide variety of bananas were sold out like hot cakes.
